Elimination Race | Virtual Track Cycling on Your Trainer | Ride Cave

Track race formats

Elimination: don’t be last.

Also known as the Devil, because the devil takes the hindmost. Every few laps the last rider over the line is out, until one rider is left.

Free on Ride Cave. Races need a smart trainer or power meter.
You don't have to win the lap.You just can't be last.

How it works

A short race, over and over.

  1. Roll out

Two or three neutral laps together, then the race is on.

  2. Survive each line

Every lap or few laps, the last rider across the line is out. A rider lapped by the leader goes before anyone on the lead lap.

  3. Be the last one left

The field shrinks line by line. The last two race for the win, and everyone else is placed by when they went out.

How to race it

Stay near the back of the front.

Keep a rider behind you

You only need to beat one rider to each line. Sitting safe in the bunch costs far less than leading it.

Keep a way out

Boxed in on the inside with a lap to go is how good legs go home early. Leave yourself room to go over the top.

Count your matches

The race gets harder as the field shrinks and the shelter goes. Save something for the last few lines.

On Ride Cave

Ride it your way.

Out means out.

An eliminated bot leaves the track for good, so the race you are in is the race you can see. Your place counts only the riders still in.

Race real people.

Host it as a Group Race for up to 30 real riders. Riders who go out ride on up by the boards, without giving or taking a draft, and watch the rest of it unfold.

A result that stays with you.

Your ride summary opens on the race, with the standings and where you finished. Every race earns XP and a badge in your ride list.

Questions

Good to know.

How does an elimination race work?

Every few laps the last rider over the line is out. It goes on until one rider is left, and that rider wins.

Why is it called the Devil?

It is often called Devil Take the Hindmost, because the rider at the back is the one who goes.

How long does it last?

It depends on the size of the field and how often a rider goes out. You set a line every 1 to 4 laps, and the race runs until one rider is left.
